Why Polyaspartic vs Epoxy?
The process that PierMagic uses compared to the other epoxy companies is polyaspartic/polyurea, which is superior to the standard epoxy floor coating. This formula is 10X more durable than epoxy. Check out some other differences!
- Polyaspartic Garage Floor Coatings won’t peel or flake like the epoxy floor coatings (especially the DIY jobs)
- Epoxy curing time is length… up to a week…. Polyaspartic only takes about a day (you are able to walk on the surface in SIX hours!)
- Polyaspartic has evenly distributed color flakes across the flooring – epoxy usually has the base coat show through. The flaking is available in hundreds of color combinations.
- Polyaspartic is 10x MORE DURABLE than epoxy. This is crucial for areas such as the garage where you have vehicles driving in and out, have oil and chemical spills, etc.
- The polyaspartic combination offers a more slip resistant option, specifically critical for pool areas. The misconception of this surface being slippery is common for epoxy floor coatings, but not polyaspartic/polyurea combinations.

When is a good time to get this done?
Another misconception with concrete floor coatings is that the application and installation cannot be done during the winter months. This is not true. Located in the hub of the Midwest and in the midst of sub-zero temperatures throughout weeks and winter, PierMagic utilizes an arctic blend process. This allows for installation in extremely cold temperatures.
